SALLY FINGERETT
NEWS

So this is my big deal news page. This is where I get to share all the news that's exciting and well, exciting. Hmmm, let's see. I've got a new "Body Dome" here that my friend Mark in Jersey helped me order off of Ebay. Of course, instead of working out on it, I'm writing my news......

Sally Fingerett, has gone Mental. "Mental Yentl" that is.

Catch Sally's "Mental Yentl Radio Hour, a Musical Celebration Honoring the Next Generation of Jewish Mothers,"  December 9th 2007 at 3:00pm EST. On XM Satellite's "Radio Hanukkah channel 108" Sally, and her 106 year old special guest/co-host "Uncle Bernie," offer up humorous stories and songs (including her composition Home Is Where The Heart Is, recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary) from her 5 solo Cds and 7 Four Bitchin' Babes CDs, while Uncle Bernie shares his tale of actually knowing the guy who invented Plastic Slip Covers!

SALLY FINGERETT BUYS NEW WINTER COAT SO SHE CAN WRITE MUSIC FOR A NEW CANADIAN ORIGINAL STAGE PRODUCTION.

Sally has been commissioned by the Winnipeg Studio Theatre to compose songs for a new musical work by and for women. The script for "Hersteria" will be written by celebrated playwright ("Molly's Veil") Sharon Bajer, (Sharon Bajer actress) (Welcome to the Sharon Bajer Profile playwright), and directed by Association for Jewish Theatres' Excecutive Director Kayla Gordon (Jewish Ensemble Theatre).

THEN SHE BUYS BATHING SUIT FOR THE SUMMER STAGED READING OF SAID MUSICAL UP IN CANADA.

On September 29th, 2007, The Winnipeg Studio Theatre staged a full reading and musical performance of the completed "Hersteria..a Musical for the Certifiable" held at the Winnipeg Contemporary Dance Studio, directed by Kayla Gordon, Amanda Smart, Assistant to the director, with guest actresses Sarah Constible, Brenda Gorlick, Jan Skene, & Debbie Maslowsky.  Attended by a full house of musical theatre buffs and administrators, we'll see who's up for producing this piece fall of 2008!  Wish us luck!

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE!

As one of the founding "Mothers" of that Folk Supergroup, The Four Bitchin' Babes, Sally is releasing her fifth solo cd. This project celebrates her career as a touring musician, composer, author and actress.

This "Best Of Collection" is a gathering of fan favorites taken from her 4 solo Cds, bonus cuts of previously unreleased recordings, and official bootlegs of recent live performances! In addition to the 15 songs, the inside booklet contains Sally's personal writings of how each song lyric came to be.

Here's a chance to sample a variety of songs including, Wild Berries, Home Is Where The Heart Is (her song that Peter, Paul and Mary recorded), Little Girl Please Wait (duet with Janis Ian), The Return (Her Kerrville New Folk Winning song), My Friend Elaine, It's Been Said, (NEW) recorded live at the Madison Civic Center, and of course the title cut (ALSO NEW) A Woman's Gotta Do Her Thing. After 20 years of requests, she finally recorded "I Wanna Be An Engineer" written by Peggy Seeger. This CD is the Sally Fan Must Have.

"Your album is GREAT, so inspiring! Your timing on IT'S BEEN SAID is so dead-on. It's a master class in delivering a song with a great melody, a story to tell, all the while holding up a mirror for the audience to hear their own lives sung. How lucky a tape recorder was running."

I GOT MARRIED!!!

Yep, that's right. I really didn't think it was in the cards for me. I had a nice first marriage, to Dan Green who co-produced all my recordings. Our divorce was amicable, friendly and not nearly as bad as some could be. I had come to terms with mowing the lawn and learning about retirement investments. I was all set to live my life as both the alpha guy and the alpha gal, but........

Well, after 6 years of being a single mom, I met Michael. We met, we dated, we got engaged, we bought a house, and we’ve manage to successfully blend our three kids. My EJ is now 20, his Max is 18 and Aaron is 16. The boys are wonderful, and EJ loves having a family. As do I.

So whad'ya think of this? After all the noise about Columbus, Ohio, being nothing more than a fancy college town with Ohio State University and it's number one ranking football team, now we're "cowtown to the stars." Couldja bust?  Eric Clapton owns homes all over the world, AND in Columbus!

BITCHIN' BABE FALLS FOR KENT STAGE

Along with Big Biz News, occasionally there's some sort of goofball embarrassing news. This here would be one of those experiences that I know performers love to share with their pals!

Pictured here is the stage at Kent State's local Performing Arts Theater, which is privately owned and operated. They bring in wonderful acts like Joan Baez, Tom Paxton, Al Stewart, Christine Lavin, and of course, The Four Bitchin' Babes.

Check out the complete story of my “adventure.”

Sally was proud and thrilled to participate in New York's FIRST Annual Jewish Music and Heritage Festival last September 2004.

In honor of the 350 th Anniversary of the First Jews In America, the entire city of NY threw one gigantic party.  With 7 days of concerts and events, spread throughout the boroughs and Manhattan, Sally accepted an invitation to perform her "Mental Yentl Show" at Satalla, a wonderful NY world music club located at 37 W. 26th St in Manhattan.

With the gloriously talented Steve Burgh (producer of Steve Goodman and John Prine) as her accompanist, Sally paid tribute and lovingly explored the trials and tribulations of this, her generation of "Jewish Mothers."   It was a blast to perform as part of this enormous festival celebrating the lives and spirits of our Jewish ancestors, who have handed down their names, rituals, customs, DNA (Dreaded Nose Alignment) and their quirks, leaving us to figure out how this "new" world works.  Check out this amazing yearly event.   http://www.oyhoo.com/nyjmhf2k6/index.html

SALLY PERFORMS WITH "THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES"

When the National Touring Company of Eve Ensler's award winning play "The Vagina Monologues" got ready to perform in Columbus, Ohio, they invited our own Columbus Babe to join the cast. That's a huge honor and adds Sally to a world-class alumni list.

The Vagina Monologues gives voice to a chorus of lusty, outrageous, poignant, brave, highly original and thoroughly human stories. Based on interviews with a diverse group of women - from a Long Island antique dealer to a Bosnian refugee - the play brazenly explores the humor, power, pain, wisdom, outrage, mystery and excitement hidden in vaginas. Having seen The Vagina Monologues, no one - woman or man - will ever look at the world the same way again.

The Vagina Monologues was originally produced in an Obie Award-winning run in 1996 by HOME for Contemporary Theatre and Art at HERE. Since that time, it has toured the country and internationally, with performances in Jerusalem, Berlin, Athens, Zagreb and a hit run in London. The text of The Vagina Monologues has also been used in two wildly successful benefit performances entitled V-Day (1998 in New York and 1999 in London), in which Eve Ensler was joined by such stars as Glenn Close, Cate Blanchett, Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, Marisa Tomei, Rosie Perez, Lily Tomlin, Kate Winslett, Melanie Griffith and Calista Flockhart. V-Day raises funds for organizations that combat sexual violence against women.

Sally Appears on WhaD'Ya Know

When Michael Feldman's nationally syndicated radio show, "Whad'Ya Know," was broadcast live from Ohio State's Mershon Auditorium, they invited Sally to appear as the musical guest. Sally grabbed this photo op so Babe Fans could see that Michael Feldman is way cute, a total babe, and who knew he'd be so tall?
